He actually returned yesterday after saying he was all right to come home first thing in the morning when I could tell from his voice he wasn't really well. Fortunately it was going to take me about 2 hours to get there and he for some reason didn't want to go in a taxi on his own. By the time I got there the hospital were saying well you'd better have lunch first and see if you're sick again. He'd been sick 3 or 4 times on Sunday. He is definitely a lot better than he was last week but he now has loads more medication he's got to take which he's not happy about and has been told he must eat more fruit and veg and eat regular meals. I've persuaded him to give it a go, though how long it will last is anyone's guess! Sugar levels are down to pretty well what they should be as they were making sure he ate the right things. So I think that's proved to him that it can be done.
My arm seems as though it's improving still, probably because I've had someone else to take my mind off it.
Perhaps more about books tomorrow.

Oh dear. You are having a rough time at the moment. Hope MJH is OK, but he does need to look after his diet and especially his blood sugar levels. Diabetes may not seem like a serious disease becuase there are seldom any short-term complications, but there are definitely long-term complications which can be quite nasty -- loss of eyesight being not the least of them! Be aware (but probably don't tell MJH!) that lots of fibre *may* not cure the sluggish bowel; it could be being caused by whatever drugs he's on. I eat loads of fresh fruit and veg (far more than 5 a day) and my bowel is slower now than for years I think because of the anti-depressants. It would be worth doing some research on the cocktail of drugs he has!
And you look after yourself too. Glad the arm is improving, if slowly. Hope it's soon OK and you can get back to normal again.
Love, K xxx
Glad to know you're both slowly on the mend. Keep an eye on it, m'dear - as I know you will - and love & hugs to you both

Yes the specialist thought it was possibly because of the combined effect of all the drugs he's on. He IS worried about the potential loss of sight but can't seem to equate that with his own actions. He knows my mum died from diabetic complications but again can't equate that with himself. I suppose it's the good old change curve - in denial!
Thanks for the good wishes Anne
